New Delhi: Actor, Anil Kapoor, together with a local NGO Plan and Brihanmumbai Mahanagar Palika (BMC), decided to go and visit Chembur in Mumbai today to initiate a cleanliness drive and explain to the residents the importance of maintaining swachhta, hygiene and sanitation. The reason why the actor chose this location was that he has grown up in this suburb and it is very close to his heart. The actor later posted on Twitter some pictures from his visit and said, “Back to where it all began…Time to make my home clean & healthy! #SwachhChembur #SwachhBharat every small step makes a difference!”

He further added, basic sanitation & cleanliness is every person’s right. And every person’s duty! A small change can make a big difference.

Appreciating the work done by sanitation workers, Anil Kapoor also posted a short film about them on his Twitter. The film captures how these cleanliness soldiers work day and night just to keep surroundings clean. The actor applauded their work and tweeted, “The Cleanliness Soldiers keep our homes clean, they deserve our respect and our helping hand. Together is better.”

The actor in response to Prime Minister’s invitation said, “Thank you PM @narendramodi ji for your invitation to be a part of the noble initiative #SwachhataHiSeva! I am honoured & will do my best!”

Many leading names from the film fraternity have come out in support of Swachh India campaign. From superstar Amitabh Bachchan to Rajnikanth, Anushka Sharma, Akshay Kumar, Dia Mirza, Juhi Chawla and Riteish Deshmukh, have either undertaken cleanliness drives or voiced their concerns on various issues pertaining to the Clean India mission.
