#SwachhIndia Cleanathon: Highlights From The Cleanliness Drive At Bengaluru

Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka was part of a cleanliness drive on Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, which is also celebrated as Rashtriya Swachhta Diwas with a 12-hour Banega Swachh India Cleanathon. The swachhta drive witnessed efforts of various individuals from across the city.

Cleanup drive at Jaya Prakash Nagar Metro Station started with removing posters from the pillars to give them a touch of cleanliness.

Pillars once loaded with posters and dirt got a new look during the cleanathon, thanks to an initiative by the Ugly Indians, a group of Swachh Warriors.

Beautifully painted pillars are a testimony of Bangaloreans' efforts and active participation in the NDTV-Dettol Banega Swachh India Cleanathon.

Samyukta Hornad, Kannada actress came in support of the #SwachhIndia campaign at the NDTV-Dettol Banega Swachh India Cleanathon. She participated in the cleanathon along with a group of school children.

A folk/fusion band called Swarathma also lend their support to the #SwachhIndia campaign by performing at Uthrali in Bengaluru.

Apart from beautifying the pillars, volunteers also painted walls and wrote a message on it. This was done in order to make people aware about the importance of cleanliness and hygiene.

Little school girls carry the message of waste segregation, an initiative by Let's Be The Change, a Bengaluru based NGO, in association with #UnitedBengaluru. They tried to make people aware about different types of wastes, such as wet waste, reject waste and dry waste.
