After Becoming Open Defecation Free, Durg In Chhattisgarh, Aims To Clean-Up And Tackle Waste Management

New Delhi: To up its Swachh quotient, the Durg municipal local body has come out with an innovative road cleaning vehicle which looks like a revolving fan with some 8 brooms. The wheel made of a broom is attached to a mini tractor and is cleaning the city’s dirty roads. Durg, one of the main cities of Chhattisgarh is taking innovative steps for making the city completely clean.

Apart from the clean-up drives, Durg Municipal Corporation is also undertaking many steps to meet the target of 100% waste segregation by the government.

In the recently held Swachh Survekshan, Durg was ranked 85 out of the 434 cities, these steps taken by the local body is just one of the innovative ways to make the city scale up to the top 10 cleanest cities in India by the next year.Apart from the clean-up drives, Durg Municipal Corporation is also undertaking many steps to meet the target of 100% waste segregation by the government.

The campaign which started on World Environment Day is still on and the municipal corporation is making all efforts to launch the new waste collecting tricycles to distribute the green and blue bins to all the wards of the city.
Apart from the clean-up drives, Durg Municipal Corporation is also undertaking many steps to meet the target of 100% waste segregation by the government.

There are around 8.61 lakh toilets which have been constructed in some 12,781 villages and 5 districts – Dhamtari, Mungeli, Rajnandgaon, Sarguja, and Durg have so far achieved the Open Defecation Free tag.
