New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday approved the setting up of seven Decentralised Sewage Treatment Plants (DSTPs) in Burari assembly constituency here, an official statement said.

Once the project is completed, all unauthorized colonies of Burari in north Delhi would be connected to sewer lines.

Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, who is also Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), directed DJB officials to start the work as soon as possible and also to come up with a proposal for DSTPs across Delhi.

The DSTPs would not only solve the sewage crisis, but will also produce a large amount of recycled water, the statement said.

The recycled water would then be used to recharge water bodies and for irrigation among other things.
