Jammu: On November 30, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti expressed dismay over the poor sanitation in the SMGS hospital and ordered the removal of its medical superintendent during a surprise visit. She took stock of sanitation, medical facilities and availability of medicines to patients, an official spokesman said.
The chief minister visited various wards and inpatient units of the hospital and also inspected the OPD, casualty ward, washrooms and other places in the hospital.
Minister Mufti interacted with patients and their attendants and asked for their feedback, spokesman said.
The Chief Minister’s office had received complaints about poor sanitation and other facilities in the hospital in the past.
In a recent review meeting with administrative secretaries, Minister Mufti had directed the department concerned to take measures for improving sanitation and other services at the hospital, he said.
During the visit, she expressed displeasure over the poor sanitation in the hospital, including the condition of washrooms, air conditioners, and beds, and directed the officials to improve the same.
The chief minister ordered the removal of the hospital’s medical superintendent, the spokesman said.
Later, she visited Maharaja Hari Singh Park on the banks of Tawi river here and took stock of the beautification works. She expressed satisfaction over the pace of work and asked officials to operationalise the library and coffee shop in the park.
