The world will consume around 5 trillion plastic bags this year, that is about 1 million bags a minute! One plastic bag kills 100,000 marine creatures every year due to plastic entanglement and around 1 million seabirds die just by eating plastic. The crisis has reached a stage where plastic is entering the human food chain as well. It is time to act. The market is flooded with alternatives to plastic bags – from jute bags to cotton bags, denim and canvas bags, there is no dearth of options, all it needs is awareness and change in habit.
