Sport Personalities Join The #PadManChallenge: Cricket Coach Ravi Shastri, Wrestler Geeta Phogat Post Photos With Sanitary Pad
“Yes, that’s a Pad in my hand and there’s nothing to be ashamed about it. It’s natural! Period. #StandByHer.” With almost everyone posting their picture holding a sanitary napkin, the #PadManChallenge and its message has gone viral
New Delhi: Head coach of cricket team and former cricketer, Ravi Shastri also joined the ongoing #PadManChallenge. Accepting the challenge, Ravi Shastri posted a picture of him holding a pad, on a social media platform and nominated skipper Virat Kohli, Chairman and Managing Director of Raymond, Gautam Singhania and Tennis icon Leander Paes. “Yes, it’s a Pad in my hand. Happy to support rockstar @akshaykumar for breaking the taboo and initiating an open conversation. AK, am sure no ball is going to hit PAD (MAN). #PadManChallenge Here I challenge @imVkohli @SinghaniaGuatam @Leander.

Wrestler Geeta Phogat also accepted the challenge and posted a picture holding a sanitary napkin, with a message that there is nothing to be ashamed of periods. It’s natural. Commonwealth games gold medalist, Geeta, said, “thank you so much for tagging me @soundarya_20_ and yes it’s pad in my hand! Not a big thing… it’s natural! Period #PadManChallenge @akshaykumar @mrsfunnybones @sonamkapoor @Padmanfilm and now I challenge to my husband @pawankumar86kg to complete the challenge.”

The challenge was started by real PadMan Arunachalam Muruganantham on Friday (February 2) challenging the star cast and the co-producer of the movie PadMan – Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, Radhika Apte, and Twinkle Khanna. The challenge to post a picture with a sanitary napkin in hand went viral with people from all walks of life joining the challenge and posting picture of themselves holding a sanitary napkin and captioned it as, “Yes, that’s a Pad in my hand and there’s nothing to be ashamed about it. It’s natural! Period. #StandByHer.”

India’s star shuttler PV Sindhu was the first sports personality to join the challenge. Like many other, she too posted a picture with a sanitary napkin in hand. She was nominated by actor Deepika Padukone who in turn was nominated by the PadMan actor Akshay Kumar.

Various other celebrities like Karan Johar, Bhumi Pednekar, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Aamir Khan, Madhuri Dixit Nene accepted the #PadManChallenge. While some celebrities just posted a picture, other went a bit creative and posted boomerang videos. Anil Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao went a step ahead and came up with a video where Rajkummar Rao as customer asks for a sanitary pad from Anil Kapoor, playing the role of a shopkeeper.

The movie PadMan starring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte is all set to hit the theaters on February 9. The movie is a biopic on Arunachalam Muruganantham, the man who invented low cost sanitary napkin making machine and started a revolution.
