‘We Salute Our Doctors,’ Politicians, Sports Stars And Bollywood Come Together To Pay Tribute To Frontline Workers On National Doctor’s Day

New Delhi: As India marks July 1 as National Doctor’s Day, people from across the board – Politicians, sports stars and Bollywood come together to thank the frontline warriors. Calling doctors “exceptional caregivers”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “They are saving lives by putting themselves in danger. India salutes our doctors, exceptional caregivers who are at the forefront of a spirited fight against COVID-19.” In the video posted, the PM said, “While mothers give birth, doctors ensure our rebirth. Doctors in protective gear (PPE) are like the representatives of God, as they treat patients with COVID-19 infection.”

President Ram Nath Kovind also took to social media to pay tribute to the frontline workers he said,

Sharing series of messages, Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu said,

Talking about the pandemic the world is dealing with and the selfless work of the doctors during this time, he added,
How many doctors and health workers have themselves been infected in treating Covid-19 patients. On the occasion of ‘Doctor’s Day’, take a pledge to give all possible support to your physicians. Respect, safety of our health workers are the responsibility of the society. On the occasion of this ‘Doctor’s Day’, I extend my heartiest congratulations to the medical community of the country who dedicated themselves to the service of humanity and wish you all the best. During the Corona epidemic, the country’s healthcare workers have protected the health of society as frontline warriors.

Apart from politicians, many sports personalities also came forward to thank our doctors. Former cricketer Yuvraj Singh thanking the real heroes said,

Saluting the doctors across India and the world, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar added,

Former athlete P.T Usha posted a video message on her social media to salute the warriors. She said,

Bollywood too came forward to share messages on National Doctor’s Day. Actor Madhuri Dixit posted a video message and said,

On the other hand, Actor Preity Zinta urged fellow citizens to help make the life of our doctors little easier by doing a small bit to beat the pandemic, she adds,

In India, National Doctor’s Day was established by the Government of India back in 1991 in honour of the birth and death anniversary of the great physician and the second Chief Minister of West Bengal, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. This day is organised by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), according to IMA, this year’s theme for the day is lessening the mortality rate of COVID-19 is dedicated to innumerable doctors who are serving during this pandemic in the primary and secondary care setups as well as the dedicated COVID care hospitals and making every single effort counts.
