102-year-old ‘Young At Heart And Fearless’ Grandmother Gets COVID Vaccine, Inspires Others To Take The Jab

New Delhi: India is currently witnessing the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic and according to the health experts, vaccination and COVID appropriate behaviour – handwashing, masking, and social distancing – are the only things that can help us break the chain of the transmission. Following the guidelines, 102-year-old Sheela Tarkeshwar Sinha from Mumbai took the COVID vaccine on Thursday (May 6). The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Mumbai’s civic body, shared the picture of the centenarian on social media and captioned it as, “Our 102 cents on getting vaccinated!”

With a mask on her face, the 102-year-old took the second shot of the vaccine at a vaccination centre in Dadar West in Mumbai. The BMC described the woman as “young (at heart) and fearless” and wrote, “she turned quite a few heads and inspired many more.”

Social Media Users Were All Praise For The Granny

A Twitter user praised both the centenarian and the BMC and said, “Wow….She is our tenant and proud of her… Inspiration for all of us…Hats off to @mybmc for their fantaboulous work.”

Ms Sinha inspired an adult to follow the suit. He wrote, “Good that you posted this. I got motivated too for taking my first jab. Thanks @mybmc for keeping the people motivated.”

“Bravo. 102 years. She (is) lovely and strong. Stay that way”, wrote a Twitter user.

“Wow that’s the spirit.#VaccineForAll”, wrote another Twitter user.

“Truly inspiring Sinha aaji”, said another.

While many praised the grandmother for being brave, taking the vaccine and setting an example for others, some also highlighted her mask slipping from her nose.

“Great granny live young!! Also please cover your nose, needs more than a vaccine”, said a user.
