Agra: Picking up a broom and becoming an integral part of the cleaning process seems to be trending under the flagship event of Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. From Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sweeping the streets of Lucknow to Uttarakhand Chief Minister cleaning the Ganga ghats, government servants are encouraging citizens to participate in cleanliness drives and keep their surroundings clean. To raise awareness on sanitation and hygiene, officials across the country have taken the swachhta pledge.

The latest official to join the swachhta bandwagon is the Agra Divisional Commissioner K. Ram Mohan Rao who picked up a broomstick and cleaned up his office premises to boost the cleanliness drive.

When we take the lead and show with example, people will follow us, there will be better awareness and the drive would become a movement, he told staff members.

Mr. Rao said there should be no littering around and every staffer should help maintain highest level of cleanliness.

To make cleaning a regular habit, it has been decided that all officials will join the cleanliness drive every Monday and Friday from 4.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.
