New Delhi: In times of gloom, a heartwarming small gesture can not only bring cheer but also restore faith in humanity. A three-year-old kid, Kabeer, from Mumbai put on a baking hat and turned into an entrepreneur to donate his earnings to the Mumbai Police Foundation, which aims at looking after the welfare of Mumbai Police.

Kabeer is the son of Karishma Bhatia and Keshav Jain, who are residents of Mumbai. Seeing the coronavirus pandemic situation deteriorating in their city, Kabeer wanted to help in some way. Karishma, who is also associated with an NGO told NDTV,

Kabeer saw me baking cupcakes and that’s where he learnt it from. We got the idea from a friend based in London, so taking that inspiration, we thought we should also do something like that here. We sent the cupcakes to our friends and our neighbours. We told them about Kabeer’s fundraiser and encouraged them to purchase them.

Karishma further explained that each cupcake is baked by the little-baker Kabeer as he had been asking questions about COVID-19. The parents explained to him that if he bakes cupcakes, it will help many people and he was eager to help. She also said that they did not fix a price for the cupcakes and asked their friends and neighbours to pay as per their free will, since the initiative is for a good cause.

We sold cupcakes worth Rs 25,000 and added the remaining balance from our side to help the Mumbai Police Foundation as they’re doing amazing work in our opinion. We initially had set a target of raising Rs 10,000, but as we were doing good we increased it to 35,000 and eventually managed to raise Rs 50,000!

The family, along with little baker Kabeer, visited the Mumbai Police Head office in Crawford Market to present the cheque for Rs. 50,000 with a handwritten note by him that read,

Dear Police uncle, thank you for taking care of us. Pls catch the virus and shoot it with your gun. I want to go to meet my nanaa and my friends. You can use the money to buy medicines and lollipops. Love love, Kabeer.

Karishma told NDTV that they plan to continue baking more cupcakes and muffins and their next target is to raise one lakh for the cause.
