COVID-19 Emergency: Madhuri Dixit, Bhumi Pednekar And Gul Panag Urge People To Stay At Home & Mask Up

As India fights the deadly second wave, actors like Bhumi Pednekar, Madhuri Dixit and Gul Panag took to their social media to urge people to stay at home as much as possible and when stepping out mask up correctly

New Delhi: As India reports 3,52,991 fresh COVID19 cases and 2,812 deaths, in last 24 hours, a new record high as a deadly second wave sweeps the country, Bollywood actors unite to spread message on the need to mask up and stay at home.

Actor Madhuri Dixit took to her social media to urge people to mask up correctly. Sharing a 30 second long video, the actor demonstrated how to wear a mask correctly as many people nowadays have been spotted wearing masks in public in the wrong manner. She urged her fans to mask up properly when stepping out and said, “Stay home, stay safe. When stepping out, mask up correctly.”

Actor Bhumi Pednekar, who herself has battled COVID-19 too asked people to stay at home as much as possible. Sharing a video clip, she said,

I am a COVID warrior and today I have a very small message – We all are intelligent people, we are all on social media platforms and are watching TV continuously, so we all are well aware that our country is fighting a pandemic. We are fighting a very big war against corona. And we as the citizen of the country can help. It is very easy; we can help our country in this fight by staying at home.

Actor Bhumi Pednekar further said that one should step out of the house only when it is essential. She added,

This is not the right time to meet your friends, relatives, this is not the time for get togethers. This virus is so small that no one really can see it but it can affect you and your loved ones badly. So, avoid the risk of stepping out and stay at home. If your areas don’t have any restrictions that doesn’t mean you are safe.

Highlighting COVID-19 appropriate behaviour that one should follow apart from staying home, Bhumi Pednekar added,

Wear a N-95 mask when stepping out, if you don’t have that then do double masking. Keep washing your hands and maintain a healthy distance – 2 metre from people at all the times. If we see today, because of COVID, our medical system is getting crumbled, our doctors and healthcare workers have a huge pressure on them. So, let’s just help them out and break the chain of virus by staying at home.

The actor has also started an initiative on her social media platform along with few volunteers in bid to help those in need during these trying times. The actor will be ‘identifying resources to enable facilitation and access to medical supplies, plasma request and donors’ via this platform.

Actor Gul Panag shared a small video explaining what kind of mask should one wear? In the small video, the actor is seen explaining why one should switch to wearing surgical masks at the moment as the country battles the deadly second wave. She said,

While cloth masks are great for maintaining the general hygiene like dust, prevention of allergies but experts say that it is safer to use a surgical mask right now.

She further is seen explaining why surgical masks are the right option at the moment. She added,

Surgical masks have three layers, an outer hydrophobic layer, a middle layer and inner soft absorbent layer. These three layers have specific functions, the outer layer repels liquid, the middle layer prevents germs from entering and the inner layer is to absorb the water and spit. So, do choose your mask wisely.
