Fighting Coronavirus: ‘Mask Must Hai’ Says Arjun Kapoor As Mumbai Makes Wearing Of Face Masks Mandatory
Supporting Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) decision on compulsory use of masks, actor Arjun Kapoor asked Mumbaikars to follow the new rule and fight coronavirus
New Delhi: Stating it as ‘the new normal’, Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor urged Mumbaikars to wear a mask to protect themselves from contracting the novel coronavirus. Arjun Kapoor’s appeal came right after Mumbai’s civic body, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) made it mandatory for the citizens to wear a mask in public places. Urging Mumbaikars to follow the new guideline, Arjun shared a picture of himself wearing a mask, right before stepping out of the house and captioned it ‘Mask must hai kyunki mask mast hai !!! Mumbaikars We must understand & follow the new rule !!!’

Arjun Kapoor’s Battle Against COVID-19
Since the nationwide lockdown, Arjun Kapoor has been quite vocal about the pandemic and has been creating awareness on the importance of staying indoors and following precautionary and preventive measures. Two weeks ago, when the 21 days nationwide lockdown was imposed, the actor posted a video calling out people loitering around and not taking the pandemic seriously.
Before the Janta Curfew on March 22, the actor shared a video on his Instagram thanking healthcare workers and BMC for putting in all possible efforts to safeguard its citizens. He also emphasised on staying indoors and said,
We tend to blame situations, circumstances, systems, governments but this time we have to look within ourselves. We can make a difference. By staying indoors, you are contributing to this war against coronavirus.

Mumbai Mandates Wearing Of Face Masks
On Wednesday (April 8), BMC released an order issued by the Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Praveen Pardeshi on the use of a mask. Referring to the studies stating that wearing of masks can reduce the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), BMC made it compulsory for all to wear a face mask in public places.
All person will be moving for whatsoever purpose and under whatever reason authority in public place, like street, hospital, office, markets must be wearing three ply mask or cloth mask compulsorily, read the order.
The latest order also asked people to wear a mask while moving around in their personal and official vehicle; at any site/office/workplace; while attending any meeting or gathering.
The order clearly stated that regular masks available at pharmacies and homemade washable masks can also be used.
Individuals not adhering to the order will be punished under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
