New Delhi: In the light of coronavirus accompanied by social distancing and self-quarantine, Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan on Sunday (March 22) shared an awareness video with a filmy touch. Just like some other Bollywood stars, the Badshah of Bollywood took it to twitter to share a five-minute-long informative video highlighting the symptoms of coronavirus and what precautionary measures one should take to prevent the spread of coronavirus. In the video, each suggestion and tip is partnered with a clip from one of his films. Sharing the video on his Twitter, Shah Rukh Khan wrote,

InshaAllah #JantaCurfew will help against the spread of the virus, though we may have to do this again. The clapping brought so much cheer. So a reminder of safeguards, with some cheer… Please take it in the right spirit. To all relentlessly working today – Extremely Grateful. Thx!

The 54-year-old actor started his video by emphasising on self-quarantine and social distancing. He said,

I am hoping and assuming that all of you are at home which is the most prudent place to be in terms of the coronavirus right now. And I feel there are a lot of good things to do if you are at home and have the opportunity to be close to your loved ones, dear ones.

He asked his viewers to be close to their loved ones while being a couple of meters apart, at least. He added,

You could pick up one of those hobbies that you always wanted to but never found time like me at the guitar. The thing is coronavirus is taking over our minds, hearts, and bodies of course and slowly creeping into our souls. Things are becoming overwhelming.

Further addressing how the internet is filled with information, misinformation and myths, together everything creating a lot of confusion, the actor went on to detail the basics that need to be followed during the pandemic – coronavirus.

Explaining the symptoms of coronavirus the actor said,

Symptoms include coughing, fever, fatigue, and sore throat. If you have these symptoms or symptoms because of which you are feeling uneasy, consult your doctor.

To give an example of each symptom and to make the video light-hearted, there were short clips from his movies. For instance, one of the symptoms of fatigue was followed by a snippet from the movie Kal Ho Naa Ho in which the actor played the role of a cancer patient.

At a time when the virus is spreading like a wildfire, safeguarding ourselves become crucial. Elaborating on what we can do to protect ourselves, the actor said,

Avoid large groups and self quarantine at home, if possible; avoid touching each other – neither let anyone touch you nor should you touch anyone; stop touching your own face no matter how beautiful it is; if you have to go out, avoid touching objects around you; also, try and disinfect everything surrounding you.

Adding to the list of precautionary measures, the actor said,

Avoid public transportation. Maintain a thorough hygiene routine – wash your hands, wash your face, take a bath and regularly clean yourself thoroughly but please do save water also.

Sharing an important hygiene tip which is being recommended by the doctors as well, the actor said,

Cough and sneeze into your elbow and make sure no one coughs or sneezes on your face. Wear a mask only if you are affected or showing symptoms or if you are a caretaker of someone who is suffering from the virus.

Concluding the video on a positive note, the actor appealed everyone to stay safe and healthy. He said,

I pray for your loved ones, your families and you and please do the same for me and my family and please rely on the correct information from the state governments, from the central government or your local authorities and Inshallah we shall overcome this.

The video ended with a disclaimer stating that every person involved in the making of the video was following social distancing; hand washing, sanitising and safety protocols were followed. In the note, the actor stated that he is back to practising the guitar so he can play another tune for his fans, soon.

Know About Coronavirus From Shah Rukh Khan

This is not the first time the actor has used the platform to initiate a conversation around coronavirus and create awareness. The actor has been pretty active these days. Earlier on March 20, the actor shared a short one minute video appealing everyone to come together to stop the pandemic coronavirus, that has spread all over the world. He gave a shout out to BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) and all the doctors working at the airports. He further asked citizens to support BMC and doctors by maintaining hygiene and practising social distancing. He ended the video by saying,

Remember, we all have to be cautious to protect oneself.

In another video shared on the same day, asking people to join hands and wage a war against virus, the actor said,

I appeal to all the people to avoid public places, and to avoid commuting by trains and buses if not absolutely necessary. The next 10-15 days are extremely crucial. To fight this crisis, the government and the citizens have to put up a strong joint fight. So I appeal again, please do not panic. Please be careful about misinformation and please follow the instructions and guidelines issued by the state government.
