New Delhi: As the country struggles to fight the COVID-19 pandemic with the confirmed cases crossing 1 lakh mark, Bollywood celebrities continue doing their bit to help. Celebrated Actor and Filmmaker, Farhan Akhtar has recently announced that he will be donating 1000 Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) kits for the healthcare professionals working in the frontline of the pandemic. Mr Akhtar today took to his social media to share his happiness over the delivery of his consignment of PPE kits to Mumbai-based Cama Hospital.

Furthermore, the actor has also partnered with celebrity shout-out platform Tring to raise money for additional 1000 PPE kits.
The actor had earlier, on May 12, said that the first batch of PPE kits were on its way to Vakola Police Station from the factory and urged people to contribute more towards the initiative.
On the other hand, Superstar Salman Khan started a food truck facility to distribute ration to those in need. The food truck named ‘Being Haangryy’ was seen on the roads in Mumbai on Wednesday where volunteers distributed ration kits to people, who stood in long queues near the truck.
While the actor has not announced this initiative himself on his personal social media accounts, Shiv Sena leader Rahul N Kanal had tweeted a video of the initiative,

Earlier, Salman Khan urged people to take up the ‘Anna Daan’ challenge and donate to the underprivileged ones who are worst affected by the COVID-19 lockdown.

Shah Rukh Khan had earlier announced that his set of companies — Kolkata Knight Riders, Red Chillies Entertainment, Meer Foundation and Red Chillies VFX — will extend financial support to several charities, which include the PM CARES fund and Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Mr Khan along with his wife Gauri Khan had also offered their four-storey personal office space in Mumbai for quarantine facility. BMC thanked SRK and Gauri for their kind gesture. The official handle of BMC tweeted,

Actor Sonu Sood made headlines when he sent 350 migrant workers to their homes in Karnataka from Mumbai in 10 buses. He also told NDTV that he has opened up his Juhu hotel to accommodate medical workers and is providing meals to the underprivileged in Mumbai.
Mr Sood is also delivering meals to 25,000 migrants living in Bhiwandi during the holy month of Ramazan.
Ayushmann Khurrana and his wife Tahira, have extended their support to a non-profit organisation in Delhi, Gulmeher – a women’s collective of waste-pickers turned artisans. The organisation works with about 200 women ragpickers and this contribution will help them look after themselves and their families.
Ayushmann, who has already donated to PM-CARES Fund, says in a statement,
Coronavirus has impacted people from every strata of life. But it has hit the lower income groups the hardest and it is our duty as citizens of this nation to come forward and support the people in dire need. Tahira and I have been associated with Gulmeher, a non-profit organization, for years and we are doing every bit possible to support these women who are absolutely distraught now.
Actress Rakul Preet Singh and her family has been helping over 200-250 families living in a slum close to her home in Gurugram. The actress told NDTV that her family is preparing and sending home-cooked meal two times a day ever since the lockdown was announced and will continue to do so, till things normalise.

Actor Varun Dhawan has provided meals to poor people who are without jobs and homes, and healthcare workers. He has collaborated with Tata Trust for the initiative.
I have deep admiration for all those who are risking their lives by working on the frontlines. I’ve committed to provide meals to doctors and medical staffs at hospitals. All meals will be provided through the Taj Public Service Welfare Trust. It’s a small step. But during a crisis like this, we have to make every step count.
