‘Let Us Give Our Children A Better Future, One Which Is Free From Plastics,’ Say Bollywood Actors Ajay And Kajol Ahead Of Maharashtra Plastic Ban

New Delhi: I am happy with the plastic ban, though it is implemented late, but at least we have started the fight against plastics. The plastic ban will only be effective if together we all make a green switch. Let us give a nice future to our children. There are a lot of green alternatives to plastic items, we all just need to identify them,” says Actor Ajay Devgn who today came out to support Maharashtra plastic ban which will come into effect from June 23 with his wife Kajol.

The husband-wife duo was present at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) special exhibition, at the National Sports Club Of India, Worli, to show their support for the state-wide ban on plastic items. Speaking at the event, Kajol highlighted one of the key steps to save the depleting planet is to give up the use of plastics, she said,

One of the first steps to save the environment is to ‘say no to plastics’. The government has done a fantastic job in implementing this ban. We all have to do our bit to save the planet.

The actor further added,

Why are we all here today? We have come to see practical reasons to give up plastic items. Trust me, this will not be that difficult. Nor, it will be impossible. We all just need to change our habits.

Earlier, the actor also took to social media to inform the netizens about her support for the plastic ban.

Along with Kajol, Actor Juhi Chawla has also lent her support for the plastic ban in the state. Asking people whether they have made a green switch or not yet, the actor also posted on social media giving recommendations on items that they should keep and the items they should give up.

The Maharashtra plastic ban was notified to people three months ago on March 23. From tomorrow (June 23), the ban will get implemented across Maharashtra wherein any person found using the banned plastic items will be fined Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 for first and second-time offence respectively. Whereas, a third-time offender will be fined Rs 25,000 and can also face three months imprisonment.
