Nature Is Not A Toilet! Akshay Kumar Spreads This Swachh Message Through Toilet, Ek Prem Katha

‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’, starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar aims to fight the age-old problem of open defecation in India

Stressing on the importance of personal hygiene, health and a toilet, actors Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar are all set for their new project “Toilet – Ek Prem Katha” to hit the big screen. The movie, a social satire, is based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’ Governments Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and talks about the issue of open defecation. The main motive behind the movie is to make people aware in a tongue in cheek about the Open Defecation problem India is fighting.

This unsual love story that delves into the problem of toilets and sanitation in India is set to release in theatres on August 11 and the first trailer of the film will release on June 11.

“Ek warning!!! TOILET TRAILER IN 4DAYS,” tweeted Akshay Kumar.

The movie has been co-produced by Akshay Kumar and Neeraj Pandey and stars Anupam Kher and Sana Khan in supporting roles.

Announcing the releasing date of the film’s trailer and stressing the importance of having a toilet, Bhumi Pednekar added, “Nature is not a Toilet, It’s a place to Love. Bringing the trailer to you in 4Days.”

The Swachh Bharat themed movie has gained a lot of appreciation. Last month, the movie found a special mention from Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, he appreciated Akshay Kumar’s efforts to spread awareness on the importance of building toilets.

Akshay Kumar had recently suggested some ‘Swachh Ideas’ to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in order to make Mumbai Swachh. He requested the Chief Minister to build toilets at every 500 metres and propagated the idea of a toilet app that would tell people where the nearest toilet is.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan So Far

More than 2 lakh villages have been declared open defecation free, about 139 district and four states including Kerala, Sikkim, Uttarakhand  and Himachal Pradesh have attained the ODF mark. States like Haryana, Gujarat, Punjab and Mizoram  are on the verge of becoming ODF and the grand plan is to make the entire country open defecation free by October 2, 2019.

The government plans to construct 12 crore toilets in rural India, to achieve its goal of Clean India by 2019. According to government figures, Swachh Bharat mission has made tremendous progress and sanitation coverage has been scaled up to 60 per cent now from 42 per cent in October 2014.
