For World Environment Day 2018, Dr Harsh Vardhan has already taken few initiatives – from undertaking the clean-up of 48 polluted waterbodies – beaches, riverfronts, and lakes across the country to requesting all schools and ministries in India to go plastic-free, the environment ministry has left no stones unturned to make this year’s World Environment Day celebrations a grand affair.
During the official launch of 45th World Environment Day celebrations in India, the minister also urged citizens to make this event a success, he said,
I urge people to make this World Environment Day a successful event – come out join the clean-up activities happening around the world, do one green good regularly and ditch one single-use plastic – bottles, poly bags, to name a few completely from your life.
