From Allahabad to Bengaluru, from Delhi to Mumbai, the 12-Hour Cleanathon drive sees thousands come out to join clean-up drives across many cities to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti, which is also celebrated as Rashtriya Swachhata Diwas. Three years ago, on October 2, 2014 is when Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the country's biggest sanitation programme - Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and set a target of eradicating open defecation from India by 2019.
