Minority Affairs Ministry Observes ‘Swachchhata’ Fortnight

New Delhi: The Union Minority Affairs Ministry recently observed ‘Swachchhata’ fortnight, with its officials and subordinate staffers taking part in cleanliness drives at various of its offices.

The ‘Swachchhata Pakhwada’ (cleanliness fortnight) was kick started by Ministry secretary Ameising Luikham at CGO Complex here on December 16.

Five teams, each led by a Joint Secretary/Deputy Director General-level officer, were formed to spearhead the efforts. In coordination with New Delhi municipal Corporation and Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the teams undertook activities for cleanliness drive wherever required, an official statement said.

Among the places where such drives were conducted included Gurudwara Rakab Ganj, Lakshmi Narayan Mandir (Birla Mandir) along Mandir Marg, Hanuman Mandir along Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Monastery Buddha temple (Ladakh Buddhist Vihara) along Bela Road and Digambar Jain Lal Mandir in Chandni Chowk.

The Ministry also organised a half-day workshop on cleanliness on December 19 at Scope Complex here. Different organisations of the Ministry such as Central Waqf Board, National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation and National Commission for Minorities (NCM) also observed the ‘pakhwada’ in their respective offices and branches.
