How India Is Waging A War Against Coronavirus
As of March 25 (6:45 PM), 606 cases of coronavirus have been reported in India. While 43 individuals infected with the virus have recovered, 10 casualties have been noted. To contain the spread of the novel coronavirus in India and ensure every citizen follows social distancing, PM Modi has announced a nationwide lockdown for 21 days. He had said,
From 12 midnight, the entire country will go under complete lockdown. The lockdown will be for 21 days — three weeks. This lockdown is in a way a curfew and would be more stringent than the Janata curfew. To break the chain of spread, 21 days of lockdown is absolutely necessary. If we don’t manage these 21 days, the country will be set back by 21 years. Some families will be destroyed forever.
To ensure people don’t step out of their house and meanwhile don’t run out of essentials, state governments have introduced various policies. For instance, to help the poor and homeless people in coping with the nationwide lockdown, the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) under the Delhi government has started a facility of providing lunch and dinner to all in need through its night shelters across the city.
On Tuesday, after PM Modi announced 21 days nationwide lockdown, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that essential items like vegetables, medicines, milk, and others will be delivered at the door step.
From tomorrow vegetables, milk, fruits, medicines and other essential commodities will be delivered to your door steps for which we have identified more than 10,000 vehicles. I appeal to you to not go to market to buy essential items: CM Yogi Adityanath https://t.co/JXZLx8Dzyq
