Banega Swasth India Season 9 Finale: Top Five Quotes Of Amitabh Bachchan

On Independence Day, as NDTV-Dettol marks the Season 9 Finale of one of India's longest-running public health campaigns - Banega Swasth India, Campaign Ambassador Amitabh Bachchan underlines the importance of the campaign and how India can move forward to achieve the goal of Lakshya Sampoorn Swasthya Ka. Here are the top five important quotes by Mr. Bachchan from the event.

'Every individual must be conscious about health, hygiene, and environment. A conscious citizen can become a positive example for others and help the country achieve its goal of one health, one planet.'

'There is a common notion that our stomach (gut) is very strong and it can digest everything. That is why, today, people think they can eat anything because of which our health has taken a toll.'

'We have many experts from the field of health. Now, more and more discussions are around health. I think, it is the best possible time to have a health council from the government, where people sit, talk and discuss diseases and the steps required to treat them. I believe this can go a long way in achieving our targets for Health For All. During COVID-19, nobody knew what to do with this damn disease. But the fantastic thing that happened during that time was that whichever doctor, who was sitting in whichever country, started to share their knowledge with each other and slowly, we saw how India effortlessly fought the pandemic. So, in the same way, if we can make a team of doctors and experts and create a council for one health, which is accessible to everyone, it will be of great use.'

'I believe it is a terrible practice to Google for our diseases and become our health experts. This should stop right away.'

'It took us almost eight years to convince people about Polio medicine and why it is good for them. Many communities said you are poisoning us, so, we had to spend a lot of time and energy convincing them. This highlights the importance of the on-ground campaigns.'
