Gearing Up For The Banega Swachh India Maha Cleanathon In Mumbai

Preparations are in full swing for the Maha Cleanathon. From marking filthy spots that need to be polished, to checking on the cleaning material arriving, to setting up the stage, NDTV - Dettol's Banega Swachh India campaign is all set for the cleanliness drive in Mumbai's JJ Hospital area.

Volunteers are beginning to show up for the Maha Cleanathon at Mumbai's JJ Hospital despite the rain. The clean-up drive is part of the NDTV-Dettol Banega Swachh India initiative, which is now in its third year.

Few of the volunteers have already taken up brooms ahead of the Maha Cleanathon at Mumbai's JJ Hospital. The clean-up drive will be joined by campaign ambassador Amitabh Bachchan, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The stage is all set for the Maha Cleanathon. The clean-up drive is likely to see thousands of volunteers clearing garbage and beautifying the area around the hospital.

The Maha Cleanathon hopes to see Mumbaikars join this mass movement in large numbers to make their city a cleaner and better place to live in.

The Banega Swachh India campaign has raised 1.16 crores of volunteering hours towards making India clean. The committed hours are being utilized in clean-up drives like these to spread the message and urge everyone to take up swachhta as their personal responsibility.

More than 30 teams of volunteers from corporates like Tata Consultancy Services and NGOs like Smile Foundation and Sant Nirankari Charitable Trust will be cleaning spots like these in and around JJ Hospital.

Apart from cleaning up the mess in the area, the Maha Cleanathon will also beautify the surrounding places with wall art and aim to create awareness through street plays, during the clean-up drive.

The stage is set for the Maha Cleanathon. Come on Mumbai!

The clean-up drive at Mumbai's JJ Hospital will be followed by a discussion at YB Chavan Hall. Campaign Ambassador Amitabh Bachchan; Nitish Kapoor, Regional Director of RB South Asia; and Manisha Mhaiskar, Principal Secretary (Urban Development), Maharashtra, will participate in the discussion with Executive Director and CEO of NDTV Group Vikram Chandra.

The NDTV-Dettol Banega Swachh India campaign's clean-up drive will be followed followed by a panel discussion in Mumbai's YB Chavan Hall. People have already started gathering for it.
