India’s New Covid Cases Cross The 10,000 Mark, Highest In 3-Months: Things To Know
Fourth wave scare in India: COVID-19 cases have been on the rise, India reported more than 12,000 cases on June 16, for first time since late-Feb
India’s tally for daily COVID-19 cases have put people in concern as it added 12,213 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, witnessing a 38.4 per cent jump from 8,822 cases recorded yesterday (June 15). This is the first time since February 26 that the viral infections have crossed the 10,000-mark in a day, according to the data by Health Ministry.

Here are the top seven things to know about coronavirus surge in India:
1. According to the Health Ministry, India’s active COVID-19 case load currently stands at 58,215, and accounts for 0.13 per cent of the total infections
2. Talking about the death toll, eleven virus-related deaths have been reported in the country – three from Kerala, two from Maharashtra, and one each from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Gujarat, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh
3. The national capital – New Delhi recorded 1,375 new Covid cases on Wednesday (June 16) bringing the positivity rate to 7.01 per cent, according to data shared by the health department. No deaths were reported in the city but this was the second consecutive day that Delhi has recorded over 1,100 cases in a day. In total, more than 7,100 coronavirus cases have been reported in the city in last 10 days. 4. Another city that is recording a sudden surge in COVID numbers is Mumbai. The financial capital reported 2,293 new COVID-19 infections, which is the highest daily count since January 23. One fresh death linked to the infection was also reported, the city civic body said

5. Overall, Maharashtra recorded 4,024 new coronavirus cases, a 36 per cent rise over the previous day, and two pandemic-related deaths, the state health department said. June 16 COVID case count was the highest since February 12 when the state had recorded 4,359 cases
6. According to an official statement by the Health Department of Maharashtra, four new cases of B.A.5 variant of coronavirus have been detected in the state. New B.A.5 cases were reported from Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Pune, and all four patients were in the age group of 19 to 36 years

7. Talking about the recovery, India reported 7,624 recoveries in the last 24 hours. According to the data shared by Health Ministry, the national recovery rate was 98.65 per cent
