National Doctors’ Day: PM Modi, Vice President And Other Ministers Thank Doctors For Their Selfless Service

National Doctors’ Day is marked annually on July 1

New Delhi: On the occasion of National Doctors’ Day, marked annually on July 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media and extended greetings to all doctors. PM Modi shared a one-minute video montage with his voice-over hailing the role played by doctors in saving lives. He said, “Doctors are said to be another form of God and not without any reason. We can never repay their debts.” The video was accompanied by a caption full of gratitude. PM wrote, “Doctors Day greetings to all hardworking doctors who play a key role in saving lives and making our planet healthier.”

National Doctors’ Day was established by the Government of India back in 1991 in honour of the birth and death anniversary of the physician and the second Chief Minister of West Bengal, Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy. Since then, July 1 in India is marked as National Doctor’s Day to show gratitude to all doctors.

On the occasion, Vice President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu, remembered Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy and expressed gratitude to all the doctors for their role in alleviating human suffering, saving lives and enabling people to lead healthy lives.

Thanking doctors for their role during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Vice President said, “The tireless efforts and selfless sacrifices our doctors have made since the onset of COVID-19 pandemic will always be remembered.”

Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya thanked doctors for their relentless service and said, “Your sacrifice, tenacity and unwavering determination can never be compared.”

“Doctors bring health and hope”, wrote Union Home Minister Amit Shah on social media as he extended his greetings to the doctors on National Doctors’ Day. He added, “The world will never forget the efforts & sacrifices of our doctors during the toughest times of the COVID pandemic.”

Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh also wished the doctors’ community and said, “They have selflessly served the people by doing exceptional work, especially during the pandemic. The nation salutes their dedication and service.”

Om Birla, Speaker of 17th Lok Sabha wished doctors continue the commendable job of making the world a healthier place. In a social media post, he wrote, “Best wishes to all doctors on Doctors Day. The day provides us with an opportunity to express our gratitude to the saviours of lives who are committed to the service of humanity. May our Doctors continue the commendable job of making the world a healthier place.”

Union Minister of Law and Justice, Kiren Rijiju proudly thanked the doctors for their unwavering efforts and saluted them for their commitment. He said, “Doctors have one of the most noble professions, they serve people with utmost courage, dedication and devotion. Amidst Pandemic, doctors along with nurses and medical staff risked their lives to save others.”

Member of Indian National Congress, Rahul Gandhi recognised doctors’ dedication, grit and tenacity and expressed his gratitude towards them.

The imbalance has also led to immense biodiversity loss that has caused one of the biggest threats to human survival – climate change. It has now been described as a “code red for humanity.” The campaign will continue to cover issues like air pollutionwaste managementplastic banmanual scavenging and sanitation workers and menstrual hygiene. Banega Swasth India will also be taking forward the dream of Swasth Bharat, the campaign feels that only a Swachh or clean India where toilets are used and open defecation free (ODF) status achieved as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, can eradicate diseases like diahorrea and the country can become a Swasth or healthy India.
