‘If Not Now, Then When’: Actor Amitabh Bachchan Urges People To Adopt Safe Sanitation Practices To Build A Swachh India

New Delhi: To give a push to the final leg of biggest jan andolan – the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan that has an aim to eradicate open defecation from the country completely by October 2019, Actor Amitabh Bachchan made an appeal to people and said each one of us should do our best to fulfill Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a clean India. He said, “This time, I will not ask you whether you have used a toilet or not, will not tell you to construct a toilet for yourself. You, yourself are a better judge.”

He further added,

In our country, today, more than 70,000 villagers have eradicated open defecation. From children to women and men – everyone is involved in making India swachh. Nigrani Samitis (Watch Committees) are being made in our country to catch hold the defaulters, who are still defecating in the open; moreover, these people are helping people to construct a toilet.

Questioning the other half of the country who still practice open defecation, Big B said,

Will your area ever become Swachh? Will you join these people and help India fulfill its target?

Sharing this video message with netizens, Amitabh Bachchan asserted that he has not just lent his voice and face for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, he is also doing his bit by working towards the goal. He added,

To achieve the 2019 goal of open defecation free India definitely more needs to be done. I am working towards the goal, not just with my voice and face, but also by doing my bit for the society. Together, we all shall be able to make India Swachh.

Ever since the launch of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in 2014, Amitabh Bachchan has been at the forefront of populariSing the campaign and encouraging people in constructing toilets and following waste management rules properly so that India apart from becoming an open defecation free country, can also become a waste-free country.

In the same regard, on May 11, Amitabh Bachchan will also launch the season 5 of NDTV-Dettol Banega Swachh India campaign with an aim to mobilise people to spread the message of swachhta.

    First cleanliness should be within Mr. Bachchan’s should clear the PANAMA INVESTMENT FILES and address to people.
