New Delhi: Actor Anil Kapoor recently visited Varanasi for Dev Diwali celebrations that happen every year in the city, 15 days after Diwali. The actor was left delighted at the way the city has transformed over the years, sharing beautiful pictures of the city and its ghats on his social media. The actor also wrote to Prime Minister for his ‘blessed experience’ and said,
Visited #Varanasi after a long gap for #DevDiwali. Was delighted to see the way the city has transformed, especially the roads leading to the ghats.
Anil Kapoor further said,

The actor also shared pictures and videos of him soaking in the beauty of the mighty river Ganga during the famous Ganga Aarti. He said, “Soaking in the peace & serenity! Currently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated many projects in his parliamentary constituency in a bid to transform the city completely. He has recently inaugurated 140 MLD Dinapur Sewage Treatment Plant in the city to fast-track the Ganga cleaning project. This Rs. 153 crore sewage plant has been set up through a public-private partnership model and aims to ensure that no untreated sewage water goes into the Ganga.

Recently during his visit in Varanasi, PM Modi highlighted Varanasi’s transformation and said that villages on the banks of the Ganga had been declared open defecation free (ODF) successfully thereby making the city a much cleaner place. He also added that the government is taking sanitation and health quite seriously and as a result, rural sanitation, which was less than 40 per cent four years ago is 95 per cent today.
