Meet India’s Sanitation Warriors

'Swachh Warriors' across the country are working against all odds to help realise the dream of a clean India. People from all sections of society have come forward and joined this mass movement of cleanliness. Parameswaran Iyer, Secretary, Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, who is leading the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan from the government has been working at the ground level, interacting with the people and trying to bring about a behaviour change. Entrepreneur turned government policy expert, Shweta Shalini is heading Maharashtra's Village Social Transformation Foundation and doing her bit to help fulfill the dream of a cleaner and healthier nation. On the other hand are the women masons or Rani Mistris of Jharkhand, who have played a major role in constructing toilets and making Jharkhand open defecation free. And a young man from Ahemdabad, who has created a handy little device that curbs the problem of a unhygienic washrooms in India and open urination.
