Dr Dhananjay Sagdeo has been working with the tribals of Wayanad for the last four decades. Dr Sagdeo was awarded Padma Shri in 2021 for improving the health status of tribals in Wayanad, Kerala. He has been treating Sickle Cell Anaemia in the region's tribal population. Sickle Cell Anaemia is a genetic disease prevalent in the tribal belt of India.
