New Delhi: Seasoned actress Hema Malini urged the citizens of the country to unite, show solidarity, follow the government guidelines and stay indoors amid the extended COVID-19 lockdown. The 71-year-old actress who has been practising self-isolation herself and regularly engages in educating people on coronavirus pandemic via social media. On Wednesday, she took to Twitter and motivated people to unite in the ongoing crisis irrespective of caste, race or religion and free the country from the coronavirus that has brought the world to its knees. In a video shared by her, she said that the country is going through a difficult phase due to coronavirus and it is the duty of every citizen to follow the directions given by the government. She further said that people need to stay indoors to break the COVID-19 chain. “This action will help us win the war against the novel virus and protect ‘Bharat Mata’”, said Ms. Malini.

Bollywood’s ‘Dream Girl’ requested her fans and followers to stay indoors for a few more days and keep the country safe from coronavirus by staying at home. In another video, she highlighted the positive side of the lockdown, shared a video message reflecting how people and environment have changed for the better amid the coronavirus crisis.

Last month, the ‘Sholay’ actor allotted Rs. 1 crore from her MPLAD (Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme) funds towards fighting coronavirus and help people cope with the current crisis in her constituency of Mathura. The fund is being used to provide ration and food to the poor and needy people in Mathura.

Earlier, Ms. Malini expressed concern over the health workers, who are being treated badly and restricted from entering their own building. She said,

In the midst of the entire country’s appreciation of the sacrifices of doctors, health workers & paramedics comes the news of unwarranted attacks on them in Indore by ungrateful miscreants. How could a mob attack ppl who are risking their own lives to save ours? Sad! Shameful!

In a video she shared in Instagram, Ms. Malini said,

Friends, I have seen this in various news channels and I am very sad that the health workers are being treated very badly. They are being restricted to enter their own building. Just think, in such times, they are our safeguards amid such situation (coronavirus outbreak). They are the ones who are going to ground level and are finding out the patients suffering from the disease.
