Published On: November 8, 2017 | Duration: 8 MIN, 27 SEC
Delhi and other cities in north India are literally choking on the air we breathe. With Delhi's Air Quality Index plummeting to severely toxic levels, political parties have engaged in blame games. Few emergency measures have been introduced in the capital with schools being shut till Monday and construction activities being stopped, however is it enough? Dr Randeep Guleria, Director, AIIMS speaking to NDTV, said that the pollution levels across north India will have definite health impact even on healthy people. Dr Guleria said that there has been an increase of over 20-25% of patients coming to hospitals suffering from pollution related ailments. He added that such pollution levels are an annual feature and rather than blaming each other the leaders along with experts need to urgently work on sustainable plans to counter this silent killer in the long term.
