New Delhi: With a dip in the COVID cases in the country, people have started to step out of their houses and travel to other cities like Dharamshala, Shimla and Mussoorie. Photos and videos on the internet show people flouting COVID safety protocols including social distancing and wearing a face mask in public. In yet another viral video shared on Instagram by a page named Dharamshala Local, a young boy is seen questioning people for not wearing a face mask in a market area.

With a cloth mask on his face and a long bright yellow stick in one hand, the child pokes at the adults meandering carelessly in the bustling market area without a face mask. The young boy is seen stopping people and asking one simple question, ‘tumhara mask kaha hai?’ (where is your mask?) However, his pleas are ignored as adults simply smile at him and walk away.
Sharing the video on social media, the admin of the local page, questioned the careless behaviour of the educated people and wrote, “This little kid was seen on the streets of Dharmshala, asking people to wear mask. He doesn’t even have shoes to wear. See the smirking faces of these people. Who is educated and who is uneducated here?”
The video shared earlier in the day on Instagram has gone viral with 6.22 lakh views and over 15,000 likes.

NDTV – Dettol Banega Swasth India campaign is an extension of the five-year-old Banega Swachh India initiative helmed by Campaign Ambassador Amitabh Bachchan. It aims to spread awareness about critical health issues facing the country. In wake of the current COVID-19 pandemic, the need for WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) is reaffirmed as handwashing is one of the ways to prevent Coronavirus infection and other diseases. The campaign highlights the importance of nutrition and healthcare for women and children to prevent maternal and child mortality, fight malnutrition, stunting, wasting, anaemia and disease prevention through vaccines. Importance of programmes like Public Distribution System (PDS), Mid-day Meal Scheme, POSHAN Abhiyan and the role of Aganwadis and ASHA workers are also covered. Only a Swachh or clean India where toilets are used and open defecation free (ODF) status achieved as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, can eradicate diseases like diahorrea and become a Swasth or healthy India. The campaign will continue to cover issues like air pollution, waste management, plastic ban, manual scavenging and sanitation workers and menstrual hygiene.
