After A Series Of Awareness Videos, Cricket Legend Sachin Tendulkar Contributes Rs. 50 Lakh To Combat Coronavirus

New Delhi: Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has come forward and decided to donate Rs. 50 lakh to help the Indian government in its battle against the coronavirus outbreak that has stunned the world and brought it to a standstill. According to the news agency ANI Mr. Tendulkar has contributed Rs. 25 Lakh each to Prime Minister’s Relief Fund and Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

In the wake of the ongoing global crisis, Mr. Tendulkar has remained active in raising awareness about the disease and preventive measures through social media platform Twitter. On Friday (March 27) he posted another video on Twitter in which he urged fellow countrymen to not look down upon any citizen who might have contracted the dreaded virus and added that it’s the responsibility of the society to make sure that COVID-19 patients get proper care. He said,

As a society, it is our responsibility to make sure that people who have been tested positive for coronavirus get our love and affection. We should take care of them and make sure that they don’t feel embarrassed.

He further said that in order to win the battle against coronavirus pandemic which has claimed many lives in the country as well as across the world, people need to adhere to the guidelines put in place by the health authorities and the government. He said,

Make sure you take all precautions but also make sure that people infected with coronavirus don’t feel unwanted. We have to maintain social distancing but we don’t have to keep them away from the society. We can win this battle against coronavirus by staying together and taking the necessary steps.

In another video shared by him earlier, he explains the correct technique of handwashing. He said,

As we hope and pray for the #CoronaVirus to be contained, the simplest action we can take to protect everyone is to wash our hands regularly and properly.

Coronavirus Outbreak In India

A total of 724 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in India, as on March 27 (9:15 AM), out of which 67 have recovered and 17 have died, as per the data provided by the Minister of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (March 24) announced a 21-day lockdown in the entire country to deal with the spread of coronavirus, saying that “social distancing” is the only option to deal with the disease, which spreads rapidly.
