Here are seven takeaways from PM Modi’s speech at the launch of Fit India Movement:
1. Fitness, A Vital Element For A Healthy Life
Sports is directly related to fitness but the Fit India movement launched today goes beyond sports. Fitness is not a word but a necessary condition of a healthy and prosperous life.

2. How Technology Has Changed The Meaning Of Fitness
Stating an example of how our dependency on technology has changed the way we lead a healthy life, PM Modi said,
A few decades back, a normal person would walk 8-10km in a day. But, with a change in technology, and the introduction of modern equipment and gadgets, physical activity has reduced. Now, we walk less and the same technology counts our steps and informs us that we are not walking enough.

3. Rise In Lifestyle Diseases
Underlining the upsurge in lifestyle diseases like hypertension and diabetes, PM said,
Earlier we used to hear that the risk of heart attack increases after the age of 50-60, now the youth of 35-40 years are having a heart attack.
Further highlighting the reason behind an increase in lifestyle diseases, PM said,
Lifestyle diseases are happening due to lifestyle disorders. Lifestyle disorders can be cured by making lifestyle changes.
These disorders can be cured with the help of small lifestyle changes and Fit India Movement aims at motivating people to bring in those small lifestyle changes, said PM.

4. Success And Fitness Go Hand In Hand
Talking about the relationship between fitness and success, PM Modi asked to look up to one’s icons, belonging to any field, and read their success stories.
If you read about their lifestyle, you will find that one thing is common in every such person. One of the common characteristics of successful people is their focus on fitness, he said.
