Dr Veeraswamy Seshiah has worked extensively on Gestational Diabetes Mellitus. He was awarded Padma Shri in 2022 for developing protocols to treat gestational Diabetes. Describing the disease as a pandemic, he said that instead of treating diabetes, there is a need to focus on the primordial prevention of Diabetes, where a child shouldn't develop Diabetes in the future.
