COVID-19: ‘Wash Your Hands Regularly, Seek Help If Needed’, Celebrities Spread Awareness On Coronavirus
From Parineeti Chopra, Salman Khan, Sania Mirza to P V Sindhu, Bipasha Basu and many other celebrities make an effort to raise awareness about COVID-19 and warned against rumours regarding coronavirus outbreak
New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing concerns related to coronavirus, Bollywood celebrities and sports stars took to social media to raise awareness about the COVID-19 which is fast spreading across the world. As of March 6, 31 confirmed cases have been reported in the country. To stop the panic, myths, unproven claims and misinformation about the outbreak on social media, prominent people put out messages, information and helpline numbers.
Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Actress Parineeti Chopra asked her fans to take coronavirus seriously. She said via her Instagram account,
GUYS STOP BEING OVERCONFIDENT AND READ THIS! Stop calling it a “hype on social media.” Stop saying “it only affects the elderly.” Stop saying “oh but the death rate of flu is more.” Stop thinking you are smarter than the virus. You are not. Coronavirus is real. Its extremely contagious and unstoppable. Please be smart. And be safe. #coronavirus
Asking people to stay safe, Parineeti’s cousin actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas said that it’s all about the ‘Namaste’- an old but also new way to greet people in a time of change around the world.
Motivating people to stay positive, actor Anupam Kher said,
Everything is ok in the end. If it is not ok, it is not the end! Corona virus is a reality of our times. We need to be careful & cautious. But we also need to change our outlook towards life. Hope my thoughts help you all a little. Do share it with friends and relatives!!

Tennis player Sania Mirza requested her fans and viewers through a video to do what is required when the symptoms arise. She said,
As you know the coronavirus is spreading fast, it originated in China and as per the UN, it has spread around the world, we need to take precautions, there are few symptoms like coughing and fever, if you feel you have the symptoms, you should immediately consult a doctor.

She also added that one can call on the helpline (104) if need be. She suggested that everyone must wash their hands regularly.

Shuttler PV Sindhu also raised awareness about the issue and said that people in the country should immediately call the helpline if they feel they are having the symptoms of coronavirus.
Telugu actor Mahesh Babu shared a list of dos and don’ts on Instagram story that included observing good personal hygiene, frequently washing hands with soap, covering one’s mouth while sneezing and coughing, refraining from the consumption of raw or under cooked meat, and refraining from travelling to farms, live animal markets or where animals are slaughtered.

Actress Bipasha Basu shared a video on Instagram showing a recommended technique of handwashing to motivate her fans to practice good hygiene. She wrote,

To raise awareness on the importance of handwashing, Padmashri award winner sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created a sand art on Puri beach in Odisha. The sand art installation with a little girl wearing a mask is washing hand had a thoughtful message, “Take precaution, be safe”. While sharing about the new art installation, Mr. Pattnaik wrote on Twitter,

Actor Salman Khan has suggested avoiding handshake or hugging. He has insisted on traditional Indian ways of greeting like salaam and namaste. He wrote,

Veteran actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha took to Twitter to spread awareness through a series of tweets. In one tweet, he has appealed to all to stop rumour-mongering.

According to COVID-19 situation report of the World Health Organisation, as of March 5, globally deaths due to the novel coronavirus have crossed 3,200 and more than 95,000 confirmed cases have been reported across 85 countries.
