New Delhi: “As we stand together in this fight against coronavirus, I want to express my immense gratitude to all the health workers, doctors, nurses and essential workers. Today, as you fight to keep humanity alive, we cheer you on. Well done, amazing job. You guys are our real heroes,” these are few of the lines in the heartwarming video message posted recently by Filmmaker Karan Johar to appreciate the efforts of all the coronavirus frontline workers.

The video Sees several personalities from the field of cinema and sports come together to thank these real life heroes. The minute-long video features filmmaker Karan Johar, designer Manish Malhotra, music composers Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani, singer Hariharan, football team captain Sunil Chhetri and former formula one world champion Damon Hill, actor Akshay Kumar, cricketer Virat Kohli, Turkish-German actor Meryem Uzerli to name a few.

Posting the video on his social media, Karan Johar expressed immense gratitude to all the frontline workers out there, who are working relentlessly and doing their duties in challenging times of coronavirus pandemic. He said,

Calling frontline workers the guiding light amid the crisis, the celebrities in the video further said,

In these dark times and in this difficult journey, it is you all who have shown us light. Because of you, people and society are safe. You are real-life heroes, putting your lives at risk every day to save humanity. We thank you, we salute you and we appreciate all that you are doing.

Please stay strong, stay safe. We will get through this together. We shall overcome.

The video is a global community initiative to express gratitude to all the frontline heroes risking their lives amid harsh conditions.

Earlier this month, filmmaker Karan Johar had also initiated ‘I for India’ campaign, a virtual concert, in which he along with other celebs, was able to raise more than Rs 52 crore for COVID-19 relief in India.

Eminent people from all walks of life have been trying to spread awareness and give hope to people through their messages and the number of other initiatives ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a nationwide lockdown from March 25. Virat Kohli along with actor Anushka Sharma took to social media to urge and request people to stay at home and safe during these tough times and follow the guidelines. Actor Deepika Padukone asked people not to hesitate to seek support when going through emotional turmoil and shared few tips and tricks to nurture #MentalHealth during this period of uncertainty and beyond. While Salman Khan penned and sung the song ‘Pyaar Karona’ in order to teach people about the ongoing crisis that India is facing and how they can help the country at this crucial time. Whereas, actor Sonu Sood helped migrant workers reach their home safely.
