New Delhi: Meet Padmashree Assistant Commandant Loveraj Singh Dharmshaktu from the Border Security Force (BSF), who has scaled the Mount Everest for the seventh time on Sunday, setting a new record for an Indian. Only this time, Mr Dharmshaktu is on a mission to spread awareness on BSF’s ‘clean and save glaciers’ campaign. Moreover, on return, he along with his team will bring back heaps of garbage from the 8,848-meter high peak. Impressed with this dedication to swachh cause, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Mr Dharmshaktu and the team and said,

This calls for double congratulations…for a successful climb and furthering the message of cleanliness! Very proud.

Minister for Home Affairs, Rajnath Singh also congratulated the team and said,

Congratulations to team @BSF_India on its second successful Mt. Everest expedition under AC Loveraj Singh Dharmshaktu. I also extend my best wishes to the second BSF group, trying to reach the Everest tomorrow. Our BSF jawans and officers have the ability to scale higher heights.

Clean India Summit Journey So Far

On March 20, the expedition was flagged off by Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore from New Delhi. Loveraj Singh Dharmshaktu was leading an expedition team of 25 people from the Border Security Force (BSF) and had left the second base camp of the world’s highest peak on Thursday for the summit climb. He summited the peak at 7am on Sunday along with seven members of his team.

Informing everyone about the successful climb, official handle of Border Security Force (BSF), India tweeted,

We did it again!!!!! 1st group of 2nd #BSF #MtEverest Expedition scaled the peak this morning in the leadership of Loveraj Singh Dharmshaktu. This is the 7th successful summit to Mt Everest of Mr Loveraj Singh, a new Indian record. 2nd group will move tonight to the peak.

About Loveraj Singh Dharmshaktu

Mr Dharmshaktu hails from Bona village of Munsiyari in Uttarakhand, he was posted in Doiwalal of Uttarakhand before he began his seventh expedition to the Everest.

In 2014, Loveraj Singh Dharmshaktu was awarded the Padmashree for his five earlier treks to the summit.
