Coronavirus Outbreak: Anushka Sharma And Virat Kohli Urge People To Stay At Home To Prevent The Spread Of COVID 19

New Delhi: The number of confirmed novel coronavirus cases in the country has reached 195, according to the data by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Several celebrities took to social media in a bid to help people understand the importance of staying indoor to control the spread of the virus. Celebrity couple Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli on Friday (March 20) urged people to follow all the guidelines issued by the authorities amid the growing number of positive COVID 19 cases in the country. Anushka shared a video on her social media handle with caption,

Stay home. Stay safe. Stay healthy.

We know we all are going through a very difficult time. And the only way to stop this coronavirus is by acting together, the power couple says in the video.

We are staying at our home for our safety and for everyone else’s as well and you should do it to prevent the spread of the virus. Let’s make it safe for us and everyone else by self isolation, they added.

Virat Kohli, re-tweeted the video with the message,

The need of the hour is to absolutely respect and follow the government’s directive. Stay home. Stay safe. Stay healthy.

Anushka also requested everyone to follow the safety norms put in place by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address on COVID 19 by sharing a note on Thursday.

To all of us citizens of India, this is the time to adhere to and abide by the preventive and precautionary directives stated by the Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji for us to fight against Corona virus (COVID 19). Social distancing is vital to control spread of COVID 19 and we should all absolutely follow this. It is of extreme importance that kids below 10 stay home and Senior citizens over the age of 60 stay home. Do follow the JANTA CURFEW on March 22: a self-curfew from the people, for the people, from 7am to 9pm. Do normal buying not panic buying. Don’t hoard essential commodities and do follow regular buying practices. Take care of your personal hygiene and make it your top priority. It is extremely important that we take the threat of Corona virus very seriously as there is no cure to the same found yet, the note read.

On the other hand, the star cricketer also lent his support to PM Modi’s address on Twitter and lauded the medical professionals in the country and around the globe for their efforts to fight coronavirus.

Be alert, attentive and aware to combat the threat posed by COVID 19. We, as responsible citizens, need to adhere to the norms put in place for our safety as announced by our honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Also, special mention to all the medical professionals in the country and around the globe for all the efforts being put in to fight the coronavirus. Meanwhile, actor Kartik Aryan also took to his Instagram for a public service announcement (PSA) on social distancing and self-isolation in his Pyaar ka Punchanama monologue style. He called out everyone who is yet to take the coronavirus pandemic seriously and urged office goers, kids and college students to stay indoor.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged people to volunteer for a ‘Janata Curfew’ on Sunday, March 22 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. He also advised people above the age of 60 years to not venture outside their homes in the coming weeks and follow the instructions issued by the state governments.
