New Delhi: Thousands of people coming to Puri beach in Odisha on Wednesday, witnessed something unique – it was internationally acclaimed sand artist and Padma Awardee, Sudarsan Pattnaik’s first 3D sand art with a message supporting India’s biggest cleanliness initiative – the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Speaking to NDTV, Sudarsan Pattnaik shared his journey as a sand artist and his support for the campaign, he said, “The ongoing campaign of swachhta is a great initiative by the government, through my sand art every now and then with messages related to the campaign, I am contributing towards a great cause.”
He further adds,
“My aim is to pass this positive thought to as many people as I can – it is the need of the hour and it is my duty as an artist.”
Sudarsan Pattnaik also said that this is the first time he has tried making the sand art in the 3D form, he adds,
Every art demands uniqueness and that’s when I decided to do a sand art with a touch of exclusivity. And what’s better than doing it for a topic that’s very much relevant for the country. Through my 3D sand art, I hope to reach more and more people and urge them to keep their surroundings clean and swachh as much as possible.
Talking about the future plans, Sudarsan Pattnaik said that he aims to take the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan sand art to different beaches of India. Moreover, Sudarsan also intends to teach the sand art-making techniques to as many people as he can so that more people can join the swachh mission and make India clean by October 2, 2019.
Sudarsan Pattnaik signs off by saying,
Till the time each one of us is involved in the Swachh Bharat Mission, the dream of making India clean cannot be fulfilled. I urge every one of you to do your bit for the mission.
