New Delhi: Shah Rukh Khan, the Badshah of Bollywood, has been at the forefront of helping in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. From providing personal protective equipment (PPE) kits to the frontline workers, cooked meals and basic essentials to the needy to contributing to PM Care fund and extending financial aid to states like Maharashtra, West Bengal, and Delhi, the actor has been making sure that the people are well supported to fight the battle. Recently, giving a boost to frontline healthcare workers Mr. Khan provided 2,000 PPE kits to Chhattisgarh through his NGO, Meer Foundation.

Sharing the news on social media and thanking the actor for his generous contribution, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel,

Famous Bollywood Actor Shah Rukh Khan’s NGO Meer Foundation has provided 2,000 PPE kits to Chhattisgarh for its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. I thank you Meer Foundation for the contribution in this huge fight.

Chhattisgarh Cabinet Minister T S Singh Deo also tweeted to laud the actor’s kind gesture to help the frontline warriors. He wrote,

I express my heartfelt gratitude to @iamsrk& @MeerFoundation for providing PPE kits to protect our frontline warriors. Thanks, @rajshriartistfor connecting us and making this possible. Your generosity has inspired many more to protect our healthcare heroes.

Always ready to help, the ‘Don’ actor took to Twitter in response and said,

Sir, We all are trying in whatever capacity we can to help our brothers and sisters to overcome these hard times. Wishing you the best with these endeavours too.

Since the nationwide lockdown, the actor has been active on his social media, reaching out to various government authorities and contributing in whichever way he can. The ‘Raees’ actor has also urged his fans to come forward to help the healthcare workers during the tough time. He had earlier tweeted,

Let’s support the brave health officials and medical teams that are leading the fight against the coronavirus by contributing towards supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE). A little help can go a long way.

NDTV – Dettol Banega Swasth India campaign is an extension of the five-year-old Banega Swachh India initiative helmed by Campaign Ambassador Amitabh Bachchan. It aims to spread awareness about critical health issues facing the country. In wake of the current COVID-19 pandemic, the need for WASH (WaterSanitation and Hygiene) is reaffirmed as handwashing is one of the ways to prevent Coronavirus infection and other diseases. The campaign highlights the importance of nutrition and healthcare for women and children to prevent maternal and child mortality, fight malnutrition, stunting, wasting, anaemia and disease prevention through vaccines. Importance of programmes like Public Distribution System (PDS), Mid-day Meal Scheme, POSHAN Abhiyan and the role of Aganwadis and ASHA workers are also covered. Only a Swachh or clean India where toilets are used and open defecation free (ODF) status achieved as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, can eradicate diseases like diahorrea and become a Swasth or healthy India. The campaign will continue to cover issues like air pollutionwaste managementplastic banmanual scavenging and sanitation workers and menstrual hygiene
