New Delhi: India’s fight against the Novel Coronavirus is getting tougher with each passing day. While the confirmed COVID-19 cases are on a rise and inching towards the 2 lakh mark, India has already climbed to the seventh position among nations with the maximum number of COVID-19 cases. Amidst this, the frontline workers are striving hard to contain the spread of highly contagious diseases. In order to support the Coronavirus warriors, actor Salman Khan recently donated 1 lakh sanitisers to Mumbai Police. The donation came into public notice on May 30 when the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray himself shared the news on his social media platform.

Showing his gratitude to the actor for his generous deed, CM Uddhav Thackeray wrote, “Thank you @BeingSalmanKhan for providing 1 lakh hand sanitisers to our @MumbaiPolice.”

Recently the actor started a food truck facility called ‘Being Haangryy’ to distribute ration among people in need. While the actor has not announced this initiative himself on his personal social media accounts, Shiv Sena leader Rahul N Kanal tweeted a video of the initiative and wrote, “Today our #BeingHaangrry visited sewri, koliwada and santacruz milna mall transit reaching out to more than 1000 families ,Thank you @AUThackeray ji @BeingSalmanKhan bhai for being there for one and all !!!”

Salman Khan had also urged people to take up the ‘Anna Daan’ challenge and donate to the underprivileged ones who are worst affected by the COVID-19 lockdown. The actor very categorically noted that either one should donate on their own or through a reliable source.

Earlier in April, the actor resolved to create awareness about the Novel Coronavirus through a song. For the same, the actor penned and sung a song titled ‘Pyaar Karona, khayal rakhona’. The song released amid Coronavirus crisis gives out the message that each one of us needs to win the war against COVID-19 and be responsible during this crucial time of the pandemic.

Through the song, the actor highlighted different precautionary and preventive measures that one can take to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and stressed on practising social distancing, working from home, staying at home and stepping out of the house only when it’s necessary. The actor also urged people to use the leisure time the lockdown has given to work on one’s hobbies.
