New Delhi: Considered to be the ‘God’ of movies with unprecedented fan following, Rajinikanth becomes the latest celebrity to lend his support to Swachh Bharat Abhiyan‘s fortnightly Swachhata Hi Seva. Rajinikanth, famously known for his movies like Shivaji-The Boss and Robot recently pledged his support and said on twitter, “I extend my full support to our hon. Prime Minister @narendramodi ji’s #SwachhataHiSeva mission. Cleanliness is godliness.”

Not many know this, but actor Salman Khan, a Swachh ambassador nominated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had nominated the Kollywood actor for the Clean India initiative in 2014, “I nominate the following for Swachh Bharat campaign and request them to further nominate nine more people. First, I nominate my fans on Facebook and followers on Twitter. “Each one of us can make a difference. And I nominate Aamir Khan, Azim Premji, Chanda Kochhar, Omar Abdullah, Pradeep Dhoot, Rajat Sharma, Rajinikanth & Vineet Jain,” he had tweeted.

Recently Rajinikanth was once again nominated by his friend and veteran Telugu star Mohan Babu to become part of this swachhta campaign. Other Kollywood actors such as Tamannaah, Samantha, Trisha and R Sarath Kumar are also part of the Abhiyan.
In 2014, the Prime Minister had nominated 9 eminent personalities including Kamal Hasan, Priyanka Chopra, Salman Khan, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar among others, to extend their support to the cleanliness mission and had requested each of them to nominate nine more into the initiative to take it viral. In last three years celebrities like Dia Mirza, Randeep Hooda, Juhi Chawla, Suresh Raina, Kapil Sharma, Sourav Ganguly, Akshay Kumar and Shilpa Shetty have shown their dedication towards the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by being part of several cleanup activities.
