The centre released the video of Swachh Shakti to mark the occasion of International Women’s Day and give a tribute to swachh women warriors of India who have been instrumental in bringing a positive change in their respective area. The video shares inspiring stories of many female Swachhagrahis, like Chhattisgarh’s young women warriors who motivated people to construct toilets through folk dance; Indrolina Sagma from Assam made her village free from open defecation in a bid to give her and each and every child of the village a Swachh future; Mira Devi from Uttar Pradesh, to name a few, who have been at the forefront of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan campaign in their areas.
This is not the first time, these celebs have come forward for India’s largest cleanliness campaign – the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor and Akshay Kumar have been leading the swachh campaign from many years in their unique way.
Amitabh Bachchan has been the face of the campaign from the moment Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ in 2014. Since then, Big B has been educating people through public service announcements (PSA) in the form of videos/radio jingles etc on why it is important to make India clean and healthy. Not just that, Amitabh Bachchan has taken part in many clean-up activities across the country to propagate the motto of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Actor Anil Kapoor too has taken part in clean-up activities and has been part of various public service announcements in a bid to motivate people in performing their swachh duties.
Speaking about actor Akshay Kumar, from movies like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (a movie to motivate people to construct toilets at home), Padman (a movie to promote the concept of menstrual hygiene and menstrual waste management) to public service announcements, clean-up activities, the actor has done it all to spread the Swachh Bharat message among people of India.
