Urban Development Ministry Asks For Extensive Audit Of Toilets

Construct 44,000 Toilets Daily To Make Uttar Pradesh Open Defecation Free By October 2 2018: Chief Secretary Rajive Kumar To District Magistrates

New Delhi: The Ministry of Urban Development has asked all the state governments and city administrations to undertake extensive audit of toilets in urban areas over the next fifteen days.

The Ministry will also soon launch a ‘Google Toilet Locator’, which will help in locating the nearest toilet, for the benefit of the people of National Capital Region.

“In the action plan for the next fifteen days sent to state and city governments, they have been asked to reach out to community representatives for effective audit of functioning of individual household toilets and community and household toilets by addressing the deficiencies including water availability,” an official statement said.

Under the ‘Swachhata Pakwada,’ special camps would also be organised to clear payments due to the beneficiaries for construction of individual household toilets.
