New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Monday asked civic bodies, the city government and Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to inform the court about the steps taken to desilt the drains to ensure the free flow of water and sewage during the monsoon.
A division bench of Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva and Justice A.K. Chawla issued notice to Delhi government, the three civic bodies, DJB and the Irrigation and Flood Control Department and asked them to file their response on the issue by June 28.

The bench also asked authorities to file photographs of the current status of the drains. A PIL was initiated after taking into note a media report that said several sewage and storm-water drains in Delhi have not been desilted.
Where desilting has taken place, the waste or the rubble from the drains have been left on the spot and not taken away to a landfill site, said the news report.
