Raisen: Government employees posted in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh as well as public representatives of rural bodies there will have to ensure toilets in their houses, or else they will face strict action, including their getting the sack.
A campaign has been launched in the district to make it open defecation-free (ODF) by October 2 and those government officials who do not have toilets in their homes by this deadline will face strict action under service rules, including termination of service, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Amanvir Singh Bains said on Monday.
These include gram panchayat Secretaries, job assistants, and aanganwadi and Asha workers, apart from elected representatives like sarpanches and panches, he said.
Ever since the launch of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in 2014, the overall sanitation coverage in Madhya Pradesh has increased and 139 cities have been declared ODF.
In the recent Swachh Survekshan results, eight cities of Madhya Pradesh were chosen in the top 25 clean cities of India and Indore was crowned as the cleanest city.
