Coronavirus had originated late last year in a food market in the Chinese city of Wuhan and since then it has been spreading with no end in sight. The virus is an infectious disease which can easily transfer from one person to another and the common symptoms include fever, coughing and difficulty in breathing, while in severe cases, it can cause pneumonia, multiple organ failure and death.  The development period of COVID-19 is thought to be between one to 14 days however, the virus is highly contagious before symptoms appear. The World Health Organisation has also said that in some infected patients the symptoms may not appear despite having the virus in their system. Experts and doctors, even WHO has advised people to take all the precautionary measures at this crucial time like washing hands thoroughly with water and soap, use hand-sanitiser whenever necessary, wear a mask if you feel you have coronavirus like symptoms and seek medical advice immediately.

To fight the infection and break the chain of the virus from spreading, many countries have announced a lockdown. On March 24, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his second address to the nation on coronavirus also declared a complete lockdown for 1.3 billion people in India. He said, “To save India, to save its every citizen, you, your family… every street, every neighbourhood is being put under lockdown. Forget about leaving home in the next 21 days… If you cross the Lakshman Rekha, you will invite the virus home.”

With the spread of coronavirus showing no sign of abating, on Monday (March 23), the Union government also permitted 12 private labs to conduct COVID-19 detection tests. Till now, the coronavirus test was only happening in government-approved hospitals or laboratories. The Indian Council of Medical Research on Monday said, “12 private-lab chains have registered after being allowed for COVID-19 testing; they have 15,000 collection centres.”

Here is a compiled list of all the centres where you can get yourself tested for the novel coronavirus.
