Folk Songs With A Swasth Message: For A First Time In India, A Music Album On Hygiene Gets Launched

Ahead of Rajasthan Day, which is marked on March 30, Dettol Banega Swasth India campaign collaborated with Rais Khan Project to compose five folk songs as part of India’s first music album on hygiene. The album was launched on Tuesday, March 29 in the presence of Dr. Bulaki Das Kalla, Minister of Education, Art, Literature, Culture, Archeology & Museum, Rajasthan, Government of Rajasthan.

The melodious folk songs aim to spread the message of basic hygiene practices that one should follow for a Swasth India. Here’s all you need to know about the songs:

‘Nirog Banao Rajasthan’: Let’s Make Rajasthan Healthy

‘साबुन पानी सू हथड़ा धोवा, मारो रे मारो सौ कीटाणु रे, निरोग बणाओ म्हारो राजस्थान ना, निरोग बणाओ म्हारो देश ना’ (You wash your hands, I will wash mine too, with soap and water and let’s make our Rajasthan healthy) – these are the lyrics of this folk song that is composed and sung by Rais Khan Project with an aim to spread awareness on hand hygiene. The song ‘Nirog Banao Rajasthan’, calls upon people to wash their hands with soap and water on a daily basis and make hand hygiene a part of their healthy lifestyle.

‘Sau Beemariyan Su Bachan Ro Tareeke’: Significance Of Handwashing

‘आगे साबुन लारे पानी, छेटी छेटी लगाओ, सौ बिमारीयां यसू बचन रो ओईज तरीको’ (First, apply soap, then use water, apply it correctly, this is the way to stay away from countless illnesses) – these are the lyrics of the folk song – ‘Sau Beemariyan Su Bachan Ro Tareeke’: Significance Of Handwashing, which is composed and sung by Rais Khan Project. The motto of this folk song is to teach people the method of washing hands properly. The folk song tells people to apply soap on wet hands and rub properly for at least 20 seconds and then clean and dry-wipe using a fresh towel. It highlights that by washing hands one can save oneself from numerous illnesses like pneumonia, diarrhoea, COVID-19 among others.

‘Sundar Gharna Saaf Rakho’: Hygiene At Home

‘साफ सफाई राखो म्होरा राज, सुन्दर घरणा साफ राखो, चोखो घणो लागे सा’ (Keep your home hygienic, it will feel clean and beautiful) – with these lyrics ‘Sundar Gharna Saaf Rakho’: Hygiene At Home folk song that is composed and sung by Rais Khan Project, reminds people on the importance of keeping their homes clean and hygienic.

‘School Cool’: Hygiene At School

‘साफ स्कूल जोवो कितरो कूल है, इथे बीमारि रो ईज खतरो कम ह, कूल है कूल है कूल है, साफ स्कूल जोवो कितरो कूल है, इथे बीमारि रो ईज खतरो कम ह’ (A hygienic school is very cool, the danger of falling sick in such an environment is less, it’s cool, it’s cool, it’s cool…A hygienic school is very cool, the danger of falling sick in such an environment is less)

The second last track of the hygiene album – ‘School Cool’: Hygiene At School conveys the message of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in schools. Through the song it says that if a school is clean and hygienic then the risk of children falling sick is less. It also urges children to follow the basic hygiene practices like washing their hands at regular intervals.

‘Aas Paas Mei Safai Rakho’: Hygiene In Neighbourhood

‘आस पास मई सफाई रखो, सगला को ही स्वस्थ रखो, आगे नेडा झाड़ लगाओ, वातावरण स्वस्थ बाणाओ, बाग बगीचा सगाला लगाओ, वातावरण स्वस्थ बाणाओ’ (Always maintain cleanliness around you, keep everyone hygienic, plant trees and greenery, make your environment healthy, plant flora and fauna, make your environment healthy) – these are some of the lyrics of the fifth track in the hygiene album – ‘Aas Paas Mei Safai Rakho’: Hygiene In Neighbourhood. The song aims to spread the message of maintaining cleanliness in the neighbourhood. The folk song also talks about planting more and more trees to make the environment green and healthy.
