According to United Nations, in the year 2050, there will be more plastic in oceans than fishes unless people stop using single-use plastic items and littering the planet with it. In her war against plastic, Dia Mirza made a plea to everyone,
I urge everyone to give up the toxic relationship with plastics and find a new love. Break up with your plastic bag, replace it with a cloth bag, break up with your plastic straw, replace it with a bamboo, metal or a glass straw, break up with your plastic toothbrush, replace it with a bamboo toothbrush, break up with a ear bud, replace it with a bamboo ear bud. Cups, mugs and bottles, have all replaceable alternatives, you just have to find your new love.
In order to inspire more and more people, the actor has asked netizens to share their ‘break-up’ story pictures and videos with her on Twitter, Dia adds,
Did you break up with single use plastics? Have you found new love for sustainable alternatives? Share a picture or video with me with #CleanSeas and tag @UNEP. Let’s inspire more people to find forever love.

Earlier this week, the campaign got support from Alia Bhatt, Kalki Koechlin, Diana Penty and Jackky Bhagnani who shared similar break up stories dumping plastic today for a cleaner tomorrow.
